New Cleaners

 

SHORT OF TIME . . . ENERGY . . . AND HELP AROUND THE HOUSE?

Cleaning is performed by experienced, screened, reliable Home Help Experts                who can assist you with the many types of cleaning services:

 

Dedicated Housekeepers who will thoroughly clean your home on a weekly or casual (one of) basis . . . who can take care of any of your:

GENERAL CLEANING (for example)

GENERAL HOUSEKEEPING (for example)

vacuuming, sweeping/washing floors ironing, washing
cleaning kitchen, bathroom, toilet, laundry hanging out washing, folding clothes
dusting, polishing, glass/mirror cleaning etc general tidying, making beds etc

 

 

and who can also carry out appropriate 'MAINTENANCE CLEANING' for your home, for example, a typical 'clean plus maintenance clean' might look

something like this:

 

1st week of month      all regular chores  plus wet dusting all skirting boards and window ledges
2nd week of month     all regular chores  plus cleaning inside of fridge, over and microwave
3rd week of month      all regular chores  plus tidying some kitchen/laundry cupboards
4th week of month      all regular chores  plus removing and cleaning all contents of kitchen dresser

“MAINTENANCE CLEANING” does not cost any more per hour, it simply means allowing a bit of extra time at each booking i.e. if your list of weekly chores usually takes 3hrs, consider booking for 3.5hrs to allow 30 minutes each week for these maintenance chores to be carried out.

 

 

Spring Cleaners and Move In/Move Out Cleaners who can give your home a thorough 'overhaul' (i.e often includes cleaning out cupboards

and drawers, cleaning ovens, cleaning underneath where the fridge and washing machine used to live, spot cleaning of marks of doors, walls etc - as well as the standard chores) as you move out - or - in! (we can even help with the packing/unpacking)

We work on hourly rates, with you nominating the amount of hours you require (we find every client we speak with has either

had a previous cleaner/housekeeper in to clean their home, or has cleaned the home themselves, and therefore

has a fairly good idea of how long their chore list takes to complete

 

We receive many calls, each day, from people asking "I have a 4 bedroom house with 2 bathrooms, how long will that take to clean?" 

We explain that it's generally not so much about the size of your home, but about what's on your chore list and how detailed you wish your clean to be.

 

Look at this for an example:

 

Smith Household

Number 2 Main Street, Vermont

Johnston Household

Number 4 Main Street, Vermont

Has a 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 1 lounge/dining room home

Has a 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 1 lounge/dining room home

requires:

 

vacuum all rooms

sweep and wash all wet floor areas

dust all rooms

clean both bathrooms

clean kitchen, laundry, toilet

wet dust skirting boards in all rooms (dust allergies in this household)

wet dust window ledges in all rooms (dust allergies in this household)

change 4 beds

half hour of ironing

 

requires:

 

sweep and mop wet floor areas (polished floorboards, no carpets to vac)

dust all rooms, except 2 guest bedrooms (hardly ever used)

clean both bathrooms

clean kitchen, laundry, toilet

NO skirting boards to be wet dusted (this client believes this to be a monthly chore)

NO window ledges wet dusted (this client believes this to be a monthly chore)

NO beds to changed (family does this)

NO ironing (non ironing household!)

 

 

As you can see, two homes, side by side, same size, but very different chore list (for very good reasons!). If we were to insist on a set chore list being carried out, probably neither home would be happy as they would not get exactly what they need.

 

In our many years of experience, we find, time and time again, the cleaning/housekeeping in each home needs to be tailored to suit that family if it's to be of maximum benefit.

 

Almost every person who calls us will ask "how do I get allocated the best cleaner/housekeeper for my home?"

The best way to achieve this is be as flexible as possible. For example, we take a number of calls every day from people who have immensely

strict/lengthy criteria, and who say something like:

  • I want the best cleaner you have

  • I want her to be long-term

  • I want a female cleaner

  • I don't want anyone from overseas

  • I don't want someone young or a student

  • I need to have them on a Friday, and it must be Friday morning

It's easy to see why this seriously limits our choices of who can be allocated. Every cleaner working with us is already attending a number of homes,

and has perhaps only one or two free mornings or afternoons in their roster.  Whilst we work throughout the Melbourne metro area, it's only sensible that we

allocate homes within a reasonable radius of' where the cleaner lives or already has other work. We also need to be mindful of various other factors, for example,

some cleaners must finish by 3.30pm in order to collect children from school, or can't start before 10am due to early morning work commitments elsewhere.

 

The ideal cleaner for your home might:

- meet all your specifications but only be available on a Tuesday afternoon, or a Thursday morning (and have the rest of their roster already filled up)

- be available on a Friday morning but is someone from overseas, or a male (some of the fastidious, experienced males are so good that they have an even longer waiting list than any female cleaner)

- be available on a Friday morning, although is from overseas and an excellent cleaner

 

If you are able to offer some flexibility in your requirements, you will get the best possible cleaner available allocated to you. But if we are required to meet a

list of tight specifications, then we have to send you who is available on that morning or that afternoon

 

Please consider how flexible you can be, before making your booking, in order to get the best result.

 

It's important also that you consider a cleaner/housekeeper requires some guidance from you, when at your home, to do the best job possible. That means :

 

 supplying verbal information or instruction books on the use of your equipment (there are many types of vacuums, steam mops, washing machines etc out there and cleaners can't know every one of them)

 

advising what you expect in your clean (which differs greatly from home to home)

 

remembering people are different - some cleaners are slightly slower and more thorough, others are slightly less thorough but get through more chores

 

cleaners need guidance on any special requirements, i.e. the dining table that should not have any chemicals sprayed on it to clean, the polished boards that should not be vacuumed, the stove top surface that should never be cleaned with a scourer etc.

 

It a great idea to have a list for your home, outlining your requirements and any special do's or don't regarding what to use (and not to use) to clean specific items of furniture or specially treated surfaces in your home - that way a new, or temporary, cleaner to your home had ready information to work with.
